A few photos here of the Grand Opening of Suzanne Verde Paddock's brand new studio. Her space is beautifully designed with lots of room to view her artwork. It's the kind of space that encourages the viewer to spend time and take in all aspects of each painting. Her studio is part of the Bedford Artisans Trail, and you can also see more of her work at TECAC. Congratulations, Suzanne!!

Featured Artist, Pam Ogden
For any of you art lovers out there, be sure to come by TECAC on Friday, July 11th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM to see the wonderful work of artist Pam Ogden. She is multi-talented and works in many mediums. She is well known in the Roanoke art world, and is now showing her work in Bedford as a member of our co-op. TECAC NEWS, SEDALIA ARTISAN FAIR, AND UPCOMING EVENTS
Hi, TECAC Gallery Followers! We have lots going on right now. Here are a few updates:
Jerome Strum had two pieces of his wonderful photography accepted for an exhibition at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, Virginia. The title of the exhibition is "Creativity Beyond the Job" and it features work by faculty and staff of the college. This exhibit runs through mid-August. "Aermotor Windmill" is shown above.
"Hats Are For the Birds," Watercolor by Perri Mason, was sold at TECAC. Congratulations, Perri!
IF YOU ARE OUT AND ABOUT THIS SATURDAY, MAY 31ST, COME TO THE SEDALIA ARTISAN FAIR. TECAC WILL HAVE A DISPLAY OF PAINTINGS FOR SALE. Mosaics by TECAC Member Edrie Bays
TECAC Gallery has so many very talented member artists, and Edrie Bays is one of them. The photo above shows a portion of a mosaic bird bath she created. Her design, as well as the work she put into this project, shows her commitment to her passion of creating art. Honor for TECAC Artist, Martha Rhodes
This wonderful watercolor painting, :Lifestream," by TECAC member Martha Rhodes was selected to be part of the permanent art collection of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. It will be part of an exhibition entitled "Pieces of Hope," and will hang in the new Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Medical Center. It will be installed in May. Congratulations, Martha!

Big Honor for TECAC Member Dotti Stone
Can you believe the work that goes into creating mosaics like this?! Well, Dotti Stone is a "pro" at it. So very creative and talented. So talented that her piece above was accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts Juried Exhibit in Lynchburg. If I'm not mistaken, this is a national show and, therefore, getting accepted is quite a coup. Congratulations, Dotti! If you have a chance, be sure to visit Lynchburg and check out all the fine work that will be displayed. Also, be sure to see Dotti's work at TECAC.

Please plan on coming to the First Friday reception on April 4th from 5 - 8 PM. At 6:00, Janly Jaggard will be making a few comments on the jurying process and presenting the awards.
Congratulations to member Alaina Blevins. She was voted "People's Choice" winner in the Bower Center's "Color My World" exhibit for her Abstract #3. See it through this coming Saturday.

Coming Soon: The Itsy-Bitsy Show, 2014
Get ready, folks! The ITSY-BITSY Show is coming June 2nd through July 12th, 2014 at Art Upstairs at Bedford Hardware. This show is fun to be a part of. It is an exhibition of very small works (5" x 5" or smaller). Limited to 3 works by each artist, the entry fee is $5.00. All works must be for sale and be framed or presentation ready. Frames can extend past the 5" x 5" image footprint. There will be a 25% commission on sales, and all works must be priced at $135 or less.

Perri Mason's "Barn Cat" at RSPCA Show
This is "Barn Cat", a watercolor painting done for the RSPCA show. Everyone is given a 12" x 12" canvas, so I painted the canvas black and attached the painting to it using matte medium. Then I sprayed 6 coats of archival gloss varnish on the painting so that it doesn't have to be framed.

Jane Schafer's Work at Moneta Library
If you are out and about during the month of February, be sure and stop by the Moneta Library on Route 122 on the Bedford side of Smith Mountain Lake and see TECAC member Jane Schafer's display of paintings. Her work will be there for the whole month; and while you are out and in the mood to look at art, come into Bedford and browse the many venues; TECAC, Goose Creek Studio, Old Jail Hill Art Space, the Bower Center, Town Kitchen and Provisions....The list goes on. It's cold out there! Art warms the soul.

Innovative Artwork by TECAC Member Edrie Bays
Edrie Bays is an artist who can do anything...collage, oils, acrylics, watercolor. You should not miss seeing her work and talking to her about what she does. She is always fascinating! Every two months when the artists change work, it is a delight to see what has come off her easel. "Franco" - SOLD at Artists on Depot
Above is a painting done by artist Rod Adams which has been sold and is now part of the permanent collection at the Courthouse. This young boy from Uganda is "Franco." All of Rod's paintings are quite wonderful and should be seen in person. Come over to TECAC and Artists on Depot and watch him paint, take one of his on-going classes, or just talk to him about his paintings or art in general. You will be glad you did.

TECAC PICKED AS BEST NEW BUSINESS
The Electric Company Artist Co-op was picked as "Business of the Year for 2013-2014" by the Bedford Professional Women. It is a huge honor for us to be recognized by this prestigious group. Above, artists Perri Mason and Suzanne V. Paddock accepted the award for TECAC at a ceremony given by the BPW group. We will display our plaque prominently and thank BPW for this honor.

Suzanne V. Paddock's and Perri Mason's Art to Be Featured at 2nd Helpings Gallery in Roanoke
These two pieces are among the works by Suzanne and Perri that will be shown at 2nd Helpings Gallery, 1502 Williamson Road, Roanoke, Virginia. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 8th from 1 - 3. Perri and Suzanne are the Featured Artists for the month. If you haven't had a chance to go to this Gallery, you will be surprised at the quality of original art for sale there, and the number of artists displaying their work. What a great way to start the new year off! Come to TECAC Gallery and see our Featured Artist for January, Jerome Sturm. His work is just plain wonderful, and he is so interesting to talk to.
