Grand Opening of the Art Studio of TECAC Member Suzanne Verde Paddock

 

 

A few photos here of the Grand Opening of Suzanne Verde Paddock's brand new studio.  Her space is beautifully designed with lots of room to view her artwork.  It's the kind of space that encourages the viewer to spend time and take in all aspects of each painting.  Her studio is part of the Bedford Artisans Trail, and you can also see more of her work at TECAC.  Congratulations, Suzanne!!

Featured Artist for August, Shelley Koopmann

Well, summer is more than half over.  With that depressing thought you might want an evening out to check out what is happening in Bedford, VA to put you in a good mood.  Come see Shelley Koopmann's paintings that are on display at TECAC for the month of August, and also check out all of the other venues on Second Friday, August 8th.  Hope to see you there!

Featured Artist, Pam Ogden

For any of you art lovers out there, be sure to come by TECAC on Friday, July 11th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM to see the wonderful work of artist Pam Ogden.  She is multi-talented and works in many mediums.  She is well known in the Roanoke art world, and is now showing her work in Bedford as a member of our co-op.  She will be on-hand to talk about her paintings and happily answer any questions.  If you miss Second Friday, her featured work will be displayed throughout the month, so come on over!

June Second Friday Featured Artist, Jane Schafer

Come one, Come All to Second Friday in Bedford!  Lots going on.  TECAC's Featured Artist this month is Jane Schafer.  Her display of art is really something to see, so make plans to stop by to see her work as well as the new display by all of our TECAC members.  Bedford is the up and coming place to be!

TECAC NEWS, SEDALIA ARTISAN FAIR, AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Hi, TECAC Gallery Followers!  We have lots going on right now.  Here are a few updates:

Jerome Strum had two pieces of his wonderful photography accepted for an exhibition at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, Virginia.  The title of the exhibition is "Creativity Beyond the Job" and it features work by faculty and staff of the college.  This exhibit runs through mid-August.  "Aermotor Windmill" is shown above.

"Hats Are For the Birds," Watercolor by Perri Mason, was sold at TECAC.  Congratulations, Perri!

IF YOU ARE OUT AND ABOUT THIS SATURDAY, MAY 31ST, COME TO THE SEDALIA ARTISAN FAIR.  TECAC WILL HAVE A DISPLAY OF PAINTINGS FOR SALE.  THERE ARE LOTS OF WONDERFUL VENDORS TO VISIT WITH, AND AT 1:00 THERE WILL BE THE OPENING OF AN EXHIBIT ENTITLED "THROUGH THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S EYE".   JEAN WIBBENS AND ROBERT MILLER, BEDFORD PHOTOGRAPHERS,  HAVE PUT TOGETHER A MIXED MEDIA EXHIBITION.  TECAC MEMBERS, JEROME STRUM, SHELLEY KOOPMANN, AND SUZANNE PADDOCK HAVE PIECES CHOSEN TO BE INCLUDED.   THE FAIR OPENS AT 10:00. 

Mosaics by TECAC Member Edrie Bays

TECAC Gallery has so many very talented member artists, and Edrie Bays is one of them.  The photo above shows a portion of a mosaic bird bath she created.  Her design, as well as the work she put into this project, shows her commitment to her passion of creating art.  All I can say is the birds that visit this "spa" should be mighty impressed :-)  Come by the Gallery and see what Edrie has on display now.

Featured Artist, Erni Houser

TECAC Gallery has a wonderful exhibit of work by our own artist, Erni Houser.  Erni's work has a soft, elegant appeal and is not to be missed; so stop in and see the display.  It will be on view for the month of May.

Honor for Alex Johnson

This painting by TECAC Member Alex Johnson was accepted into the Watercolor Society of Virginia's 2014 Juried Exhibit and sold at the opening reception.  Congratulations, Alex!  Come by the Gallery to see more of Alex's work as well as all the other art by our member artists and guest artists.  There is always something new and exciting at TECAC.

Honor for TECAC Artist, Martha Rhodes

This wonderful watercolor painting, :Lifestream," by TECAC member Martha Rhodes was selected to be part of the permanent art collection of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.  It will be part of an exhibition entitled "Pieces of Hope," and will hang in the new Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Medical Center.  It will be installed in May.  Congratulations, Martha!

Big Honor for TECAC Member Dotti Stone

Can you believe the work that goes into creating mosaics like this?!  Well, Dotti Stone is a "pro" at it.  So very creative and talented.  So talented that her piece above was accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts Juried Exhibit in Lynchburg.  If I'm not mistaken, this is a national show and, therefore, getting accepted is quite a coup.  Congratulations, Dotti!  If you have a chance, be sure to visit Lynchburg and check out all the fine work that will be displayed.  Also, be sure to see Dotti's work at TECAC.

Good things are happening to good people here at TECAC.

Perri Mason, Edrie Bays, and Rod Adams all had work accepted in the juried Lynchburg Art Club Show entitled "Connections."  Please plan on coming to the First Friday reception on April 4th from 5 - 8 PM.  At 6:00, Janly Jaggard will be making a few comments on the jurying process and presenting the awards.

Congratulations to member Alaina Blevins.  She was voted "People's Choice" winner in the Bower Center's "Color My World" exhibit for her Abstract #3.  See it through this coming Saturday.

Shelley Koopmann's work is on display at the Moneta Library's MOARTS for the month of April.  Stop by when you are out and about.

Double Line Painters At TECAC for April/May

Also note, the Double Line Painters will be painting in Bedford starting at 3:00 PM on 2nd Friday in April, and will be finishing up their works in the gallery; so come on by to see what they have chosen to paint.

Recent TECAC Presentation Given by Dotti Stone

This is one of many very good reasons to become a member of TECAC!!  Mosaic Artist Dotti Stone had our members create some really great mosaics after our monthly meeting.  We don't just talk, we act; and with her expertise and our artistic talents, beautiful things happen.  Thank you, Dotti, for a fun, creative time.

Coming Soon: The Itsy-Bitsy Show, 2014

Get ready, folks!  The ITSY-BITSY Show is coming June 2nd through July 12th, 2014 at Art Upstairs at Bedford Hardware.  This show is fun to be a part of.  It is an exhibition of very small works (5" x 5" or smaller).  Limited to 3 works by each artist, the entry fee is $5.00.  All works must be for sale and be framed or presentation ready.  Frames can extend past the 5" x 5" image footprint.  There will be a 25% commission on sales, and all works must be priced at $135 or less.

Liberty High School Student Art Exhibition On Display for March

Please come and see the outstanding artwork that the Liberty High School students have on display for the month of March at TECAC.  You can see this show beginning on 2nd Friday, March 14th and continuing throughout the month. Come and meet these talented young artists and have a chance to discuss their work.  TECAC is honored to present this show.

Perri Mason's "Barn Cat" at RSPCA Show

This is "Barn Cat", a watercolor painting done for the RSPCA show. Everyone is given a 12" x 12" canvas, so I painted the canvas black and attached the painting to it using matte medium. Then I sprayed 6 coats of archival gloss varnish on the painting so that it doesn't have to be framed.

Featured Artist for February, Nancy Rae Brown

The snowstorm will be gone and you all will want to get out into the world again.  Come see Nancy Rae Brown's "Treasured Scenes" at TECAC beginning Second Friday in Bedford, Valentine's Day, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Nancy will be there to discuss her work and answer any questions you may have.  Come say hello, browse the artwork, and enjoy the food.  Can't think of a better way to spend the evening! 

Art Show at Second Helpings in Roanoke

Head out to Second Helpings in Roanoke to see two of our TECAC members' artwork.  Suzanne Paddock and Perri Mason are showing some great pieces.  A must see!  The paintings will be on display for the whole month of February.
